South Korea have become World Cup<\/a> mainstays in the modern era and are taking part in their 11th consecutive finals in the USA, Canada and Mexico this summer.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Taegeuk Warriors were comfortable in qualifying for this World Cup, topping their Round Three Group B without losing a game. However, this doesn’t have the feeling of a vintage South Korea outfit with the likes of Lee Jae-sung and Son Heung-min now reaching the latter stages of their careers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A new generation of talent is coming through and the future is bright for South Korean football while being placed in Group A alongside South Africa, Mexico and Czech Republic gives them a good chance of progression from the group stages at least here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hong Myung-bo’s side will feel they have the opportunity to go deep in the tournament. They got off to a good start after coming from behind to defeat Czech Republic in their opener. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

They weren’t able to keep that momentum going, though. They lost 1-0 to Mexico in their second game and now need a result in their third game to qualify. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
