The top half is where Brentford\u2019s realistic ambitions sit, and recent history is firmly on their side. The Bees have now finished in the top 10 in three of the last four seasons, the only exception a 16th-placed campaign in which they were never seriously dragged towards trouble.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brentford’s highest-ever finish did see them as the fifth-best team in English football. But that came 90 years ago, in the 1935-36 campaign. There was no European reward for that finish, with only glory going to the league winners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For all the talk of Brentford\u2019s ceiling, the more striking story under Keith Andrews has been their floor. Brentford have finished in the top 10 in three of the last four seasons and, despite many tipping them to struggle last term, they never came close to relegatio<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The market reflects that confidence, with the Bees among the longest priced teams to go down. The Bees have never had a Premier League Golden Boot winner \u2014 Ivan Toney went closest, finishing third in 2022\/23 with 20 goals, a full 16 behind that season\u2019s winner Erling Haaland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This time, though, the Bees have a genuine contender. Igor Thiago tore up the 2025\/26 campaign, smashing Brentford\u2019s single-season Premier League scoring record with 22 goals to finish as one of Haaland\u2019s closest challengers. Crucially, the Brazilian stayed put over the summer, and he heads into 2026\/27 as the club\u2019s first realistic Golden Boot hope \u2014 at 10\/1, he’s the third-favourite behind Alexander Isak and Erling Haaland. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bees have yet to see a player claim the PFA Players\u2019 Player of the Year award, and 2026\/27 looks unlikely to change that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite his record breaking goal haul, Igor Thiago is unlikely to win the individual prize and no Brentford player is expected to challenge for it. Instead, the leading candidates are likely to come from the teams battling at the top of the Premier League.<\/p>\n\n\n
