Fulham have always been seen as either a mid-table team or one battling relegation in the Premier League. That’s reflected by finishing in the top half only five times in top flight history. Fulham have also been in the Championship for five of the last 10 seasons. But since their last promotion to the Premier League in 2022-23, manager Silva has managed to establish the Cottagers in the top flight after three finishes of 10th, 13th and 11th.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That last top-10 finish came in that first season back in the Premier League in 2022-23. But you have to go back to 2011-12 for the last time they pulled off the feat before that, when they finished ninth under Martin Jol. Securing a top-10 finish is becoming more and more difficult for Premier League teams because of how competitive the division is becoming. Last season, there were just 10 points separating fifth-placed Newcastle — who secured Champions League Football — and Brentford<\/a> in 10th, meaning Silva and Fulham will have their work cut out to improve on their 2024-25 standings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fulham are currently 13\/20 to finish in the top half, for an implied probability of 60.61%. That’s just as likely as Bournemouth<\/a> (13\/20), and more likely than the likes of Brighton and Hove Albion<\/a> (7\/4), Ev<\/a>e<\/a>rton<\/a> (6\/5), Sunderland (5\/2), and Crystal Palace<\/a> (7\/2).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fulham have never finished in the top six in Premier League history. Not to sound like a pessimist, but those are the facts. The Cottagers have always been attempting to push the boundaries of what it means to be a big club by making some high profile signings over the years. But they’ve struggled to make that leap to being a team that regularly challenges for European places.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There was a point when Fulham were in that conversation after they completed an incredible turnaround from avoiding relegation in 2007-08 and then finishing seventh the following season — which was enough for a place in the Europa League. And they went all the way to the final before losing to Atletico Madrid. Fulham then secured back-to-back finishes of eighth and ninth in 2010-11 and 2011-12, before going on a downward spiral leading to their relegation in 2013-14.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, finishing in the top six would be a massive feat for a club like Fulham, with so many teams battling hard for European football. Last season, the likes of Manchester United<\/a> and Tottenham Hotspur<\/a> finished closer to the relegation places and they will hope to return to the European fold next season – making it even harder for Fulham to make a big push. Fulham are big outsiders for a top-six finish, currently rated at 16\/1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marco Silva has managed to guide Fulham away from the risk of relegation during their three seasons back in the top flight, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a concern for the Cottagers. Despite eventually finishing 13th in 2023-24, Fulham fans feared being sucked into a relegation back for much of the season. While Fulham haven’t looked like relegation candidates since, the brutal nature of the Premier League means there’s every chance the west London team could become involved in a survival battle if they suffer a poor start to the campaign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The three newly-promoted teams are the favourites to go straight back down. And they’re all odds-on. Fulham have been given slightly longer odds of 7\/1 to be relegated in 2025-26. That’s an implied probability of 12.5%.<\/p>\n\n\n
