Newcastle finished 12th in the Premier League last season – their lowest-placed position within the five seasons under Eddie Howe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Magpies are yet to appoint his successor, and the future looks murky at best right now. That being said, having achieved two top-six finishes in the past four campaigns – missing out narrowly in 2023\/24 when seventh – this has to be their target.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since Newcastle returned to the Premier League in 2017\/18, they’ve managed a top-10 finish in four of the nine seasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Three of those came with Eddie Howe at the helm, throwing great uncertainty as to how the Toon will adapt without one of their most successful managers in charge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With everything that’s happening this summer on Tyneside, including the sales of key players, stranger things have happened than a surprise Newcastle relegation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They’ve been given an 11.1% chance of dropping into the second tier, around the same odds as Everton<\/a> and Bournemouth<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s been just shy of 30 years since the last Newcastle player won a Premier League Golden Boot. Alan Shearer took home the prize in 1996\/97, scoring 25 goals in 31 games. He followed up Andrew Cole’s achievement from two seasons prior, when scoring 34 goals in 40 matches for the Magpies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alexander Isak has been Newcastle’s best bet in recent years, finishing second to Mohamed Salah in the top scorer race during the 2024\/25 campaign. The Swede then moved to Liverpool last summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Centre forward Yoane Wissa is considered their most likely candidate for this season’s Golden Boot at 40\/1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last season’s first choice goalkeeper Nick Pope recorded seven clean sheets from 27 league appearances. That tally fell 12 shy of eventual Golden Glove winner David Raya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Braga goalie Lukas Hornichek has recently arrived for \u00a325.7 million, and will undoubtedly be their new No.1 for the 2026\/27 season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He’s been priced up at 50\/1 to win the league’s Golden Glove award, alongside Brighton’s Bart Verbruggen.<\/p>\n\n\n
