Arsenal transfer window business<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Arsenal looked to add quality across their spine in the summer, with signings in midfield, defence and goalkeeper. David Raya’s loan move was made permanent, while Riccardo Calafiori and Mikel Merino also came in. Raheem Sterling and Neto were loan arrivals for the first team.<\/p>\n

Going the other way were the likes of Emile Smith Rowe, Eddie Nketiah and Aaron Ramsdale as Arsenal looked to trim the fat of their squad. There weren’t any real departures of note in January, while despite a bid for Ollie Watkins, Arteta failed to bolster his squad before deadline day. And that has come back to bite them.<\/p>\n

Arsenal’s top Premier League Golden Boot contender: Kai Havertz<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Kai Havertz could return from injury before the season is up, but he missed a big chunk due to injury. And the German’s absence has been telling. He’s endured a couple of barren runs, but the German remained Arsenal’s go-to man in attack. He did play in midfield at times, which also hampered his scoring numbers. Nonetheless, Havertz has scored nine goals in the Premier League this season, still more than any other Arsenal player.<\/p>\n

The German still sits joint-second among the Arsenal squad shots on target (21) and top for non-penalty Expected Goals (9.47). There is also the quirk that Havertz didn’t outside of London in the Premier League this season, with seven goals at the Emirates alongside two away goals in the capital.<\/p>\n

Arsenal’s primary playmaker: Bukayo Saka<\/strong><\/p>\n

Bukayo Saka was running away with things at the top of the Playmaker Award charts. The Englishman was the first to hit double figures for assists in the Premier League this season, registering 10. But his creativity had to take a break with Saka missing a bit part of the season through injury.<\/p>\n

It was a big blow for Arsenal, with Saka a creative threat from open play and set pieces. The Englishman has now returned from injury, and leads Arsenal for chances created with 50. Saka also sits third in the Premier League as a whole for big chances created (20), which is remarkable considering he’s played over 1,000 minutes fewer than the two players above him.<\/p>\n

Arsenal’s card magnet & top tackler: Thomas Partey<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Thomas Partey has been utilised in two different positions this season, and they’re both tackle-heavy. Of course, his main position is as a defensive midfielder, but Partey has also featured as a fill-in right-back. As a result, Partey leads Arsenal for tackles with 80 and fouls on 40. But, Partey’s tackles and fouls don’t exactly convert to yellow cards, with just four in the Premier League this season.<\/p>\n

Arsenal’s rising star: Ethan Nwaneri<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Arsenal have had a lot of bright young players on their books over the years. And Ethan Nwaneri appears to be the brightest. He’s the youngest-ever player in Arsenal’s history in the Premier League, making his debut aged 15 years and 181 days in 2022-23. Nwaneri has gone on to play 38 times for Arsenal, including 25 in the Premier League this season.<\/p>\n

Nwaneri had been filling in for the injured Saka on the wing since just after Christmas, enjoying a good run of performances. This is despite a little injury of his own. He’s quietened down slightly towards the end of the season, but that’s to be expected in a teenager playing his first full campaign.<\/p>\n
