Just seven years after winning the title and two years after lifting the FA Cup, Foxes suffered a shock relegation in 2022-23 but recovered brilliantly under Enzo Maresca, accruing 97 points to pip Ipswich Town to the title by just a single point.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Maresca left last summer to take over at Chelsea<\/a>, replaced by Steve Cooper. But Cooper struggled in charge and was eventually sacked, with Ruud van Nistelrooy brought in. That hasn’t helped much either, and Leicester to set for an immediate return to the Championship.<\/p>\n

Jamie Vardy scored only three goals in his last Premier League season. However, the veteran forward demonstrated that he hasn’t lost his scoring instincts by netting 18 goals in 35 Championship appearances last season, leading Leicester’s return to the top tier. With nine games left of the 2024-25 campaign, Vardy is Leicester’s top goalscorer in the Premier League with seven goals. He also leads the Foxes for shots (47) and shots on target (21), with 44.68% shot accuracy.<\/p>\n

Leicester’s primary playmaker: Facundo Buonanotte<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Creativity has been a big problem for Leicester this season. Bilal El Khannouss leads the Foxes for chances created in the Premier League at 24, two ahead of Facundo Buonanotte. But it’s Buonanotte who takes the head-to-head on assists (two). Buonanotte has also created six big chances in the Premier League this season, level alongside El Khannouss, with 2.0 Expected Assists.<\/p>\n

Leicester’s card magnet & top tackler: Wilfred Ndidi<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Full-back Victor Kristiansen leads Leicester for tackles this season with 82, 22 more than second-placed Wilfred Ndidi. But per 90 minutes, Ndidi has averaged 3.26 tackles, more than any other Leicester player with at least 1,000 minutes played. The Nigerian has done his best to hold the midfield together at times, despite struggling with injuries. He has committed more fouls than any other Leicester player, with 32 — one more than Buonanotte. In terms of their own academy players, Leicester haven’t had too many young stars shining this season — though it’s been hard for anyone to stand out. But they look like they have a decent young player in Bilal El Khannouss. The 20-year-old joined in the summer from Genk and has played 24 league games so far this season, amassing over 1,500 minutes. In that time, El Khannouss has been directly involved in three goals, leading Leicester for chances created (24), final third passes attempted (262) and completed (189), as well as through balls attempted (eight).<\/p>\n
