year\u2019s World Cup 2022<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3><strong>Qatar top World Cup Golden Boot contender &#8211;\u00a0 Akram Afif<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Akram Afif may be a familiar to fans of Spanish football, having spent time with Sevilla, Villarreal and Sporting Gijon, playing nine times in La Liga for the latter.<\/p>\n<p>But it&#8217;s on home soil where Afif has thrived, netting 76 goals in 124 appearances for current club Al-Sadd, whom he rejoined from Villarreal in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>The 25-year-old made his Qatar debut way back in September 2015, and found the net in a 15-0 thrashing of Bhutan. Since that match, Afif has added a further 23 goals, including one at the victorious 2019 Asian Cup, and two in the 2021 Gold Cup.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Qatar player to watch &#8211; Almoez Ali<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Afif isn&#8217;t the top scorer in the Qatar squad, however.
