As group winners, France were put against <a href=\"https:\/\/www.squawka.com\/en\/stats\/clubs\/sweden\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sweden<\/a> in the last-32, and they won that European clash 3-0. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Les Bleus then won a battle against <a href=\"https:\/\/www.squawka.com\/en\/stats\/clubs\/paraguay\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Paraguay<\/a> to book their spot in the quarter-finals where Morocco were lying in wait. Goals from Kylian Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele were enough to secure a 2-0 victory over the Atlas Lions in Boston.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">France went down 2-0 in the semi-final to a hard working Spainish outfit who did not put a foot wrong all night. His 20 goals in 20 games places the Frenchman just one behind Lionel Messi at the top of the charts. Eight of those 20 goals have come at the 2026 World Cup, and Mbappe sits level with Messi in the Golden Boot race. Mbappe has scored in five of France&#8217;s six games so far, bagging braces in three of those. He has created 12 chances at the World Cup so far, with only Mbappe (16) and Ousmane Dembele (15) managing more for <em>Les Bleus<\/em>. But Olise leads Deschamps&#8217; side for his five big chances created. In fact, only Messi (six) has created more big chances at the World Cup than Olise.
