They won nine of their 10 qualifying games ahead of 2022, but bowed out of the group stage with just one point from three matches. Denmark have had a mixed year in 2025 so far. They started with a UEFA Nations League quarter-final defeat to Portugal, despite winning the first leg 1-0. Brian Riemer&#8217;s men did bounce back in June, though, claiming two friendly wins over Northern Ireland and Lithuania. But it&#8217;s now back to serious business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Scotland suffered heartbreak in qualifying for the 2022 World Cup. They finished second in their qualifying group behind Denmark, but lost in the play-off semi-finals. It extended Scotland&#8217;s absence from the World Cup to at least 28 years, since their group-stage exit in 1998. Steve Clarke&#8217;s men have had an interesting year so far. They suffered relegation from the UEFA Nations League A, after losing the play-off to Greece, even after winning the first leg away from home. Scotland then lost in a friendly against Iceland, before beating Liechtenstein in June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-denmark-team-news\">Denmark team news<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Christian Norgaard will miss out on the international break due to injury, while Christian Eriksen also isn&#8217;t included in Denmark&#8217;s squad. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Mikkel Damsgaard, Matt O&#8217;Riley and Morten Hjulmand are among Riemer&#8217;s midfield options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-scotland-team-news\">Scotland team news<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There were no real surprise exclusions in Scotland&#8217;s squad for the September internationals.
