Manchester United play their penultimate friendly of the summer when they meet Real Betis on Thursday at 3am (UK time).<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Red Devils then face Liverpool before returning to England for the Community Shield against Manchester City. They open the Premier League season against Fulham on Friday 16th August.<\/p>\n

Former Lille defender Leny Yoro went off in United’s reverse against Arsenal but the early indications are that it wasn’t a serious setback.<\/p>\n

Rasmus Hojlund also went off but his muscle problem may not be enough to prevent him forming part of the squad in San Diego.<\/p>\n\n

Victor Lindelof is back in full training and while Kobbie Mainoo and new signing Joshua Zirkzee have been spotted in the USA, neither is expected to have a role here.<\/p>\n

Manuel Pellegrini will continue to be without Ayoze Perez, German Pezzella and Johnny Cardoso due to their involvement in various international tournaments this summer resulting in extra leave of absence.<\/p>\n

Last season’s star performer, Isco, suffered an ankle injury in May and isn’t likely to return until mid-August.<\/p>\n

    Mixed start for Red Devils<\/h2>\n

    The 2-1 loss to Arsenal in Los Angeles came at a cost for Man Utd. Hojlund put them ahead early but the striker then went off injured, as did \u00a352m new signing Yoro.<\/p>\n

    Both looked to have occurred in rather innocuous fashion but will have caused a headache for Erik ten Hag that he didn’t need.<\/p>\n

    The Red Devils lost to Rosenborg in an underwhelming pre-season opener before a win over Rangers at Murrayfield ahead of their trip to the US.<\/p>\n

    The Community Shield against Manchester City is looming large on the horizon as the season inches closer.<\/p>\n

    Betis started their pre-season with a 5-1 win over Austria Salzburg, with 21-year-old forward Marcos Fernandez Sanchez hitting a brace.<\/p>\n

    The La Liga side have already faced Premier League opposition in pre-season, going down 1-0 to Liverpool on Saturday as Dominik Szoboszlai got the only goal in Pittsburgh.<\/p>\n

    Experienced boss Manuel Pellegrini led his side to seventh in the Spanish top flight last season, once more securing European football via the Conference League qualifiers.<\/p>\n

    Man Utd are perhaps closer to full tilt than Betis at this stage in the summer and may be keen to continue dominance in this fixture.<\/p>\n

    The only competitive meetings between these teams came in the Europa League last-16 stage in the 2022-23 season as United won both legs for a 5-1 aggregate victory.<\/p>\n
