Turkey<\/a> saw their Euro 2024<\/a> hopes come to an end due to a spirited Netherlands come back in their quarter final match up.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

Portugal were the obvious favourites to finish top in Group F, but below them, any one of Turkey, the Czech Republic<\/a> or Georgia<\/a> fancied their chances of taking second place. It was Turkey that proved to be head and shoulders above both of the other runners in the race for second though, beating both to finish in second with six points.<\/p>\n

This set them on a collision course with winners of Group D, Austria. Turkey got a 2-0 lead with both goals from Merih Demiral, but has to withstand a lot of pressure to seal their place in the final eight.<\/p>\n

Turkey’s biggest test comes in their second match against group favourites and 2016 European champions, Portugal. Turkey have only beaten Portugal on two occasions, but have never done so in a competitive match.
