France and Ireland were drawn into UEFA Euro 2024 qualifying Group B alongside Greece, Netherlands and Gibraltar. Heading into the fifth round of fixtures it’s Les Bleus<\/strong> who are in control of the group. Didier Deschamps’ men are perfect having won their previous four games without conceding a single goal. Kylian Mbapp\u00e9 is their leading scorer with four strikes with Olivier Giroud, Antoine Griezmann, Benjamin Pavard and Dayot Upamecano also finding the net.<\/p>\n

Stephen Kenny’s side, meanwhile, are two places below having won once across three qualifiers while suffering two losses. France inflicted their first defeat before Greece ran out 2-1 winners at home. They’ll be without teenage sensation Evan Ferguson who is one of four Ireland players to register a Euro 2024 qualifying goal. Ireland’s record on French soil is poor with one prior success from eight visits which came in a May 1937 friendly that saw them pick up a 2-0 win. Davy Jordan and Jackie Brown were the goalscorers.<\/p>\n

Ibrahima Konate has had to pull out of the France squad for the latest round of fixtures due to injury. It was an interesting call up in the first place as Konate was injured when the squad was initially announced, though the extent was unknown. Jean-Clair Todibo will be hoping for his first France appearance, the only uncapped player in the squad.<\/p>\n

Starboy Evan Ferguson has also pulled out of Ireland’s squad due to injury, a real blow given he entered the international break off the back of a hat-trick for Brighton against Newcastle. The teenager suffered a knee injury in the win and was likely to lead the line for Ireland against France and the Netherlands.<\/p>\n
