Eleven days after they met in the FA Cup semi-finals Brighton and Man Utd locked horns with three Premier League points up for grabs.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The hosts came into tonight’s meeting seven points behind fifth-placed Liverpool but with three games in hand. As for the Red Devils<\/em>, they were seeking to move back into third, as well as avenging an opening day loss to Roberto De Zerbi’s men, though he wasn’t in charge back then.<\/p>\n

Brighton also won this exact fixture last season meaning they were looking to register a third consecutive win over United, something they’ve never managed to do before, as well as putting down a first-ever league double over the record 20-time English champions.<\/p>\n

An evenly contested affair saw the sides heading towards a goalless draw before late drama. Luke Shaw’s handball deep into stoppage time gave Alexis Mac Allister the chance to seal a 1-0 victory, as well as gaining a semblance of revenge for their recent semi-final loss, which he duly obliged.<\/p>\n

Jason Steele – 8 – <\/strong>His five saves tonight were his most in a single Premier League game.

Pervis Estupi\u00f1\u00e1n – 6.5 – <\/strong>A more subdued outing for the nominally marauding left-back though had a stoppage time long-distance effort comfortably saved.
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

Lewis Dunk – 7 – <\/strong>Reacted angrily to Antony’s hack at Mac Allister which earned him a yellow card. Aside from that wild moment he was the embodiment of calmness. Had the most touches (50) of anyone playing in tonight’s game.
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

Adam Webster – 6.5 – <\/strong>Saw a headed effort in the 17th minute comfortably saved. Was then booked in the second half for a reckless foul on Bruno Fernandes.<\/p>\n

Mois\u00e9s Caicedo – 7 – <\/strong>Made a rare start on Brighton’s bench in their rout of Wolves last time out. De Zerbi wasn’t going to make it back-to-back substitute appearances for their much-wanted box-to-box midfielder. However, tonight he was deployed at right-back, subsequently enjoying a fascinating battle with Rashford.
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

Alexis Mac Allister – 8.5 – <\/strong>Another somewhat fresh after playing fewer than 30 minutes last weekend. The deep-lying playmaker created three chances, while boasting a 91.7% passing accuracy, and under immense pressure converted a 98th-minute penalty to hand Brighton victory.
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

Billy Gilmour – 4.5 – <\/strong>Having either been an unused substitute or not in Brighton’s squad since early February this was a second consecutive start for the Chelsea loanee. This performance was nothing to write home about.
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

Kaoru Mitoma – 7 – <\/strong>Recalled to Brighton’s starting lineup after making a 35-minute cameo against Wolves last time out. Squandered an early chance when his effort hit De Gea flush in the face which forced a long delay as the Spaniard needed treatment. Had 15 touches in the opposition’s box this evening, the joint-most by a Brighton player in a single Premier League game alongside Leandro Trossard against Fulham in January 2021.
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

Facundo Buonanotte – 5.5 – <\/strong>A second start in three games for the 18-year-old attacking midfielder. Inspired by the occasion and produced a standout moment when his curling effort from an improbable angle drifted wide of De Gea’s goal.
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

Julio Enciso – 6 –<\/strong> Showcased why many are excited about his future. No better illustration than early into the second half when he evaded a couple of challenges just inside the Man Utd penalty area before Wan-Bissaka charged his shot down. “He is like a slippery fish, they just cannot get hold of him. He is a talent, that is for sure,” Alan Smith commented on Sky Sports commentary.

Danny Welbeck – 5 – <\/strong>Understandably enthused to play against his former side. He was unable to score in three successive home appearances in the competition for the first time since January 2014

Solly March <\/strong>(for Buonanotte 62) – 6 – <\/strong>A first substitute appearance for March this season. Produced a late brilliant run but could only see his effort go wide.

    Man Utd<\/strong><\/h2>\n

    David de Gea – 7 – <\/strong>All shook up after Mitoma’s third-minute strike bounced off his face. Put that behind him and was unfortunate not to register another clean sheet to further stretch his case to win this season’s golden glove.

    Diogo Dalot – 6 – <\/strong>An outing that was spent playing on the back foot. Dalot struggled to provide United with an extra attacking outlet.

    Luke Shaw – 6.5 – <\/strong>Has really come into his own in an unusual centre-back role, but threw away his good work by conceding a 95th-minute spot-kick.

    Victor Lindel\u00f6f – 6 – <\/strong>Put his side in early danger with a lackadaisical pass. That proved to be a blip as the Swede would put in another credible performance.

    Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 7 – <\/strong>Back in Ten Hag’s starting lineup and recently contained Mitoma in their Wembley showdown a few weeks ago. The electric Japanese winger described that duel as a ‘complete defeat’. Was again on his A-game to deal with Mitoma’s threat.

    Fred – 4.5 – <\/strong>His presence somewhat changed Man Utd’s fortunes in the midfield battle with Brighton last time out. As usual, Fred gave you energy, but ineffective\u00a0

    Casemiro – 5.5 – <\/strong>United are fundamentally a different team with him on the field. The former Real Madrid enforcer once again played on the edge and on another day could have seen red.

    Marcus Rashford – 6 – <\/strong>It felt like nothing could stop Rashford after returning from the mid-season World Cup finals. Heading into today’s game he’s only managed to register one goal across four matches in all competitions.

    Bruno Fernandes – 7 – <\/strong>He created five chances in open play in this match \u2013 since his Premier League debut in February 2020, Fernandes has created more chances in open play than any other player (254).
    \n<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Antony – 5 – <\/strong>Consistency has been Antony’s biggest issue following his mega transfer from Ajax last summer. A long-term acquisition, the hope is he can develop into a perennial attacking threat, could have given United the perfect start but fired wide. Entered the referee’s book for a hack at Mac Allister in the 69th minute.

    Anthony Martial – 4.5 – <\/strong>Played the final minutes in United’s win over Aston Villa with this being his first starting appearance since the aforementioned FA Cup semi-final game. He couldn’t end a three-game scoring drought but not for the want of trying.
