Bayern Munich successfully booked their spot in the Champions League quarter-finals after running out 2-0 winners over Paris Saint-Germain this evening.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The six-time European champions heading into today’s round of 16 second-leg looking to defend a slender 1-0 lead courtesy of ex-PSG forward Kingsley Coman and it was another former PSG man who effectively decided tonight’s contest before they doubled their output in the dying minutes.<\/p>\n

“Over the two games, Paris deserve to go out,” came Samir Nasri’s verdit on Canal+. “There was reason to hope in the first half, but in the second half, it was exactly like in the first leg. They didn’t offer much, and individual mistakes again cost them qualification. You can’t lose the ball like Verratti did for the first goal.”<\/p>\n

Yann Sommer – 7 – <\/strong>Put his side in big danger after being caught on the ball. Vitinha looked to have scored but it wasn’t meant to be as De Ligt flew in to make the block. Sommer did redeem himself by pulling off a stunning intervention to deny a goalbound Sergio Ramos header.

Alphonso Davies – 7.5 – <\/strong>Was his usual marauding self down Bayern’s left flank. The electric Canadian full-back, though, lacked a serious end product and was often tested with Hakimi occupying the same patch of land.
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

Matthijs de Ligt – 8.5 – <\/strong>A more aggressive outing by the Dutchman, who seemed to be tasked with keeping tabs on Messi, played a crucial role in denying the World Cup winner from putting the visitors ahead during a 25th-minute goalmouth scramble. Before the half-time break produced an incredible goal-line clearance after Sommer had a momentary lapse of concentration.

    Dayot Upamecano – 8 – <\/strong>Fraternity was thrown out the window as Upamecano was given the unenviable job of keeping compatriot Mbappe at bay. Not only did he stick to his task but Upamecano thrived and was brilliant throughout.

    Josip Stanisic – 7.5 – <\/strong>Some might have expected Jo\u00e3o Cancelo to start but it feels that Julian Nagelsmann simply doesn’t rate the on-loan Manchester City defender to start. That being said, Josip Stanisic didn’t put a foot wrong operating as Bayern’s right-sided central defender.

    Joshua Kimmich – 6 – <\/strong>Tidy in Bayern’s midfield. Kimmich wasn’t at his domineering best, in truth he didn’t need to be.<\/p>\n

    Leon Goretzka – 7 – <\/strong>Played in between compatriots Kimmich and M\u00fcller the “box-to-box” midfielder had some opportunities to break the deadlock but he did have a role in Bayern’s breakthrough goal.

    Jamal Musiala – 7.5 – <\/strong>He came into tonight’s game as the most prolific U21 player across Europe’s big five leagues, Musiala was undoubtedly Bayern’s most dangerous player when he was on the field.
