Vincent Aboubakar has doubled down on claims he made earlier this year that Mohamed Salah is overrated and that he<\/em> “can do what he does”.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The 30-year-old initiated his first broadside on Salah before Cameroon’s semi-final clash with Egypt in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, which The Pharaohs<\/em> won on penalties. The Cameroon captain suggested<\/a> that Salah is “not at the level of Kylian Mbappe” and “he doesn\u2019t impress me much”.<\/span><\/p>\n

Liverpool’s talismanic sensation got the last laugh back in February, but Aboubakar has once again sought to downplay the scoring credentials of his attacking contemporary. Not afraid to irk a few Koppites, the Cameroon captain believes he is on a par with Salah.<\/p>\n

The Al Nassr forward told 90FootballFr<\/a><\/em>: “I’m not impressed by him. I can do what he does. I just don’t have the opportunity to play in a big club.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

“I understand people’s attitudes, he’s one of the best goalscorers in the Premier League. It makes sense that when you go on about a player like that, people will talk.<\/p>\n

“But I did say that it was my opinion, my point of view. I don’t give a toss if people don’t like it.”<\/p>\n

Aboubakar’s original comments may have been viewed, at the time, as part of a physiological ploy to rattle Salah ahead of Cameroon’s Afcon semi-final clash against Egypt, but his latest criticism has come seemingly out of nowhere.<\/p>\n

Back in February, the former Porto and Besiktas striker accused Salah of only performing well because he plays for Liverpool.<\/p>\n

He commented at the time: \u201cHe doesn\u2019t impress me much. I say it clearly because I\u2019m an honest person and I have my way of seeing things.<\/span><\/p>\n
