Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernades would personally be happy for teammate Cristiano Ronaldo if he was to leave Old Trafford this summer.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The five-time Ballon d’Or recipient is continually linked with a move away from English football’s record 20-time champions with reports suggesting it’s his desire to hear the Champions League anthem every other week at the root of his wantaway.<\/p>\n\n

Ronaldo, who returned to United last summer, finished as the club’s leading Premier League marksman but it wasn’t enough for United to secure a place in this season’s European Cup — a competition which the Portuguese forward is the all-time record goalscorer — instead Erik ten Hag’s men will play in the Europa Conference League.<\/p>\n

To date a host of Champions League clubs have been touted as Ronaldo’s destination including Barcelona, Napoli, Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea and Bayern Munich but they’ve all since distanced themselves away from acquiring his signature. A reported willingness to forgo hefty wages coupled with his tactical limitations has all-but consigned Ronaldo to another season at United where he’s no longer guaranteed a regular starting berth under Ten Hag.<\/p>\n

In fact Ronaldo was dropped for Man Utd’s meeting with Liverpool on Monday evening, he would come on in the closing minutes for a five minute cameo, his compatriot Fernandes — who captained United — revealed he may know about Ronaldo’s future but it’s not his place to reveal before adding whatever he decides that decision will be good enough for him.<\/p>\n

    “There is a lot of speculation. I may know one thing or another, but I won’t be the one who will say it,” he told Eleven Sports<\/p>\n

    “For now he is a United player, I don’t know about his future, if he will leave or if he will not leave. As he said, he will speak soon and they will have time to hear his words and what he has to say.<\/p>\n

    “He can continue at a high level and give us a lot of goals but it’s his decision. We have to respect what he wants to do, whatever he wants to do.<\/p>\n

    “If he’s going to stay, we’ll be happy about it, if he’s going to leave because he thinks it’s best for him, I’ll be personally happy for him.”<\/p>\n
