Liverpool midfielder Fabinho believes there’s five teams in contention for next season’s Premier League with defending champions Manchester City the one to beat.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Pep Guardiola’s men secured a fourth title in five seasons last time out, though were pushed all the way by Jurgen Klopp’s side who finished a point behind City, however both clubs were far ahead of the chasing pack with third-place Chelsea a further 18 adrift of the Reds.<\/p>\n

Tottenham, Arsenal and Man Utd rounded off the top six and they’ve all strengthened this summer with United bringing in a new manager. City, Liverpool and Chelsea have not stood still with each bolstering their respective attacks.<\/p>\n

Fabinho, a title-winner under Klopp’s leadership, feels the forthcoming 2022\/23 campaign will be keenly contested by five of those aforementioned teams all of whom go into August’s kick-off as the five leading favourites according to Opta.<\/p>\n\n

“Man City are obviously the favourites and it\u2019s tough to fight against them to win the Prem,” he told The Athletic<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“You can play one of your best seasons like we did, score more than 90 points and it still doesn\u2019t mean you win the title. We know that if we want to win it we\u2019ll need to be almost perfect.<\/p>\n

“City are always buying new players, always reinforcing their team. This summer was no different with Haaland joining them. I think it will be a really good battle with them, but not just them.<\/p>\n

“Tottenham have bought some good players, Arsenal too with Gabriel Jesus going there, Chelsea too.<\/p>\n

“Everyone has been reinforcing because everyone wants to beat City. That means the Premier League will be at a really good level this season.”<\/p>\n
