Manchester United have confirmed midfield star Paul Pogba will leave the club this summer upon the expiration of his contract.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The 29-year-old World Cup winner has endured a polarising return to Man Utd since completing a \u00a390m move from Juventus in 2016.<\/p>\n

Pogba has not appeared for Man Utd since he suffered a calf injury in the club’s 4-0 capitulation at the hands of Liverpool at Anfield in mid-April.<\/p>\n

That Merseyside mauling has now been confirmed to be his last match in a Man Utd shirt, with his contract set to expire on June 30.<\/p>\n\n

A statement on the club’s website read<\/a>: “The club can announce that Paul Pogba will leave Manchester United at the end of June, upon the expiry of his contract.<\/p>\n

“The Frenchman has enjoyed a long association with United, having joined the club’s Academy from Le Havre at the age of just 16.<\/p>\n

“Everyone at the club would like to congratulate Paul on his successful career, and thank him for his contributions to Manchester United.<\/p>\n

“We wish him all the best for the next steps on a remarkable journey.”<\/p>\n

In what proved a largely injury-hit final season for Pogba at Old Trafford, his career in the North West ended with a whimper as the club went the campaign trophyless and finished with their lowest-ever points tally in Premier League history, just about scraping sixth and Europa League football.<\/p>\n\n

The statement continued: “Pogba’s final season at the club started off in hugely promising fashion, with an astonishing four assists in our opening-day thrashing of Leeds United, but more injury problems would ultimately derail his ambitions.<\/p>\n

“The Frenchman made just 27 appearances under Solskjaer and the Norwegian’s replacement, interim manager Ralf Rangnick, and the last of his 233 United games ended in the 10th minute of a defeat at Anfield in April 2022, with Pogba forced to leave the field due to another unfortunate knock.”<\/p>\n

“It was a low-key end to a United career that had brought so many individual high moments, so many beautiful goals, assists and pieces of skill.<\/p>\n

“But for a boy that joined the Academy at 16 to make over 200 United appearances and lift the Youth Cup, along with two major pieces of silverware \u2013 not to mention the World Cup at international level \u2013 is something that should be applauded and celebrated.”<\/p>\n
