Former Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur forward Dimitar Berbatov has questioned rumours linking Harry Kane to Old Trafford, believing the England international won\u2019t want to give up Champions League football.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Red Devils are set for a huge rebuild this summer as Erik ten Hag looks to bridge the gap between his new club and the Premier League’s dominant duo, Manchester City and Liverpool.<\/p>\n

Major surgery is required if Man Utd are to get back into the Champions League and offer a more competitive edge in the upper slopes of Premier League football, having just scraped sixth and finished with their lowest points tally in the competition’s history.<\/p>\n\n

One player who has been linked with a move to Old Trafford is Kane, who attempted to engineer a move to City last summer, only for Spurs chairman Daniel Levy to hold firm and retain his prized asset.<\/p>\n

With the summer window fast approaching, the England international has once again seen his name associated with the North West, only this time, with Man Utd reportedly in the frame — but Berbatov has questioned the validity of such rumours, saying Kane won’t want to abandon Champions League football.<\/p>\n

“Of course, there are going to be questions around Harry Kane’s future following last summer’s saga. Haaland has gone to Manchester City, so will\u00a0<\/span>Kane\u00a0<\/span>go to Man United?” he told\u00a0<\/span>Betfair.<\/p>\n\n

“They aren’t playing Champions League football, so I don’t see the point of the move for Kane. He will want to play Champions League football. Where else would he go?<\/p>\n

“Outside of England? I don’t think so. My guess is, that there will be rumours flying around, and some interest from clubs, but he will stay at Spurs.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Kane has already been discussing plans ahead of next season for Spurs, while his latest comments about Antonio Conte would suggest he’s relishing the opportunity to work under such an esteemed tactical figure.<\/p>\n

“I think the improvement has definitely been there since the gaffer came in to where we are now,\u201d Kane told Standard Sport last month.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cIt shows it can be done in a short space of time, but obviously we will see what happens over the summer and look forward to the next season with a great manager and hopefully we’ve learnt a lot since he’s been here.<\/p>\n

“I have said I am a big fan of his and we get on really well so of course it would be great for the club if he stays. But like I have said that is his decision, he’s his own man, and I’m sure he will talk to the club and decide on his future. From our point of view we are all enjoying working with him.”<\/p>\n
