Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has stated that he is the best player in his position in the world, believing statistics back him up.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Salah is the best player in the Premier League right now, leading the Golden Boot and Playmaker Award races, and is the favourite to win the Player of the Season — having already wrapped up the FWA’s Footballer of the Year.<\/p>\n

The Egyptian has understandably been key to Liverpool’s quest to win the quadruple this season, scoring 30 goals in 48 games across all competitions, despite missing a handful of games while away on international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations. <\/p>\n

Salah is also second favourite to win the Ballon d’Or for 2022, and the Liverpool man believes he is the best player in his position in the world.<\/p>\n

“I like to always create a new challenge for me, to work in a different way and to make a difference and that is my duty.”<\/p>\n

Although he is often looped in with the likes of Benzema, Robert Lewandowski and Cristiano Ronaldo, Salah isn’t a striker so wouldn’t be comparing himself with them. Instead, Salah would be measuring himself against his fellow wingers. And there, there isn’t much in terms of competition.<\/p>\n

Among players in Europe’s top five leagues, across league, Champions League and Europa League play, Salah has scored the most goals of any winger, at 30. He is nine clear of his closest rival, Rennes’ Martin Terrier, on 21. But, importantly, Salah has added 15 assists in the Premier League and Champions League, while Terrier has just one assist in Ligue 1.<\/p>\n

Completing the top three for goals is Sadio Mane on 20, but again the Senegalese forward has scored twice – plus he has also played centrally in recent weeks.
