Manchester City have reached an agreement in principle for the transfer of Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund at the end of the season.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Norway international had long been tipped to leave the Ruhr district, and that seeming inevitably has now come to fruition, with City winning the race for his signature, which significantly bolsters Pep Guardiola’s already-stellar frontline.<\/p>\n

The City boss had made no secret of his desire to recruit an out-and-out striker, with the open-aired pursuit of Harry Kane proving one of the most frenzied transfer sagas of last summer, but the club have been quick to get business done early this time around.<\/p>\n

There had been tentative murmurs that City would pursue Kane again this summer, but with Daniel Levy’s unshakable transfer stance on his prized asset, Guardiola has sought to plug the striker gap in his squad with the acquisition of a younger, more sought-after model.<\/p>\n\n

A brief statement on City’s official website read: “Manchester City can confirm we have reached an agreement in principle with Borussia Dortmund for the transfer of striker Erling Haaland to the Club on 1st July 2022.<\/p>\n

“The transfer remains subject to the Club finalising terms with the player.”<\/p>\n

The 21-year-old, Leeds-born marksman has been hot property since bursting onto the scene with Molde in 2017, further enhancing his reputation with Red Bull Salzburg, particularly in the Champions League, and now at Borussia Dortmund, a club who say farewell to another world-class fledgling star.<\/p>\n

Since pitching up at the Westfalenstadion, Haaland has been in frightening form, bagging 85 goals in 88 games across all competitions, and while injury issues have threatened to curtail his progress at BVB, they haven’t proven significant enough to keep him out of action for any major length of time.<\/p>\n\n

Haaland now returns to England (his birthplace) and follows in the footsteps of his father, Alfie Haaland, who turned out for City between 2000 and 2003, though back when the club were slogging it out at Maine Road and didn’t have pockets as deep as the Pacific.<\/p>\n

Guardiola will be hoping the signing of Haaland can prove the skeleton key needed to unlock his final door at the Etihad: the Champions League. Having conquered the domestic circuit, winning Premier Leagues, FA Cups and League Cups aplenty, ol’ ‘Big Ears’ continues to eluded the Catalan’s grasp.<\/p>\n

With Haaland, though, that may be about to change.<\/p>\n
