Paul Scholes has hit out at the Manchester United players, claiming they will lose to Arsenal and Chelsea if their form doesn’t improve immediately.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Man Utd are currently fighting a losing battle to qualify for the Champions League, currently sixth in the Premier League, three points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur having played a game more than the North London club.<\/p>\n

It wasn’t too long ago that Man Utd appeared to be in control of the race for the top four, but they have won just six of their 15 Premier League matches since the start of 2022, drawing five and losing four. Two of the defeats have been heavy ones against rivals too, first losing 4-1 to Manchester City at the Etihad before leaving Anfield with a 4-0 thrashing.<\/p>\n

The defeat to Liverpool, in which they conceded after just five minutes, has been deemed the lowest point of Man Utd’s season so far as they were completely outplayed by their bitter rivals. Man Utd managed just two shots in the 90 minutes at Anfield with an xG of 0.11, compared to Liverpool’s 14 shots and xG of 1.87 (not to mention the four goals scored). They also had just 28.4% possession in what was their heaviest defeat at Anfield in the Premier League era.<\/p>\n

And former Man Utd midfielder Scholes believes the club are in a bad place right now.<\/p>\n

“There was just a real lack of fighting spirit, which is sad. I feel sorry for the football club and I feel sorry for the fans,” Paul Scholes told Premier League Productions.<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s in a really bad place and we need to forget about moaning all the time we need to find a way to get it back where it should be. Getting a proper coach will help, of course it will.”<\/p>\n

On Thursday, less than 48 hours after the Liverpool defeat, Man Utd did make a move to getting a “proper coach”, announcing the appointment of Ajax manager Erik ten Hag<\/a> on a three-year deal, with the 52-year-old officially taking charge in the summer.<\/p>\n
