Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel has praised Mason Mount following his FA Cup semi-final performance against Crystal Palace with the Blues midfielder set to make a landmark appearance.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The 23-year-old England international netted against the Eagles in a 2-0 victory at Wembley to set up another domestic final showdown against quadruple-chasing Liverpool next month. After a goalless opening half, Ruben Loftus-Cheek broke the deadlock before Mount sealed the win, subsequently registering his 12th goal of the season.<\/p>\n\n

Mount has been the club’s most standout player in this 2021\/22 campaign, and when they needed him the most he stood up, much to Tuchel’s appreciation. “Also for Mason, it was perhaps impossible for him today to have the influence he normally has, to have the high rhythm of actions he is normally used to and is good for his game,” he told reporters.<\/p>\n

“But he stayed patient, waited and finished with a lot of composure. So full credit to them. We have a lot of young players and to do this all the time is very good for their development.”<\/p>\n

Heading into their upcoming London derby against top-four rivals Arsenal on Wednesday evening, Mount has been their key performer in attack. He leads the club with 10 goals, three of which have been the critical first of the match. If he does start then Mount will play his 100th Premier League appearance for his boyhood club.<\/p>\n

Having already registered 23 goals and 18 assists, he’s been directly involved in more goals (41) than any other English player in their first century of Premier League games for them. To put this in some perspective the club’s all-time top scorer Frank Lampard managed 16 goals and 11 assists in his opening 100 matches.<\/p>\n
