Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel believes Romelu Lukaku needs to use Timo Werner as a source of inspiration if he is to make his Stamford Bridge return a success.\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The struggling Belgian rejoined Chelsea in the summer after a highly-fruitful spell in Italy with current Serie A champions Inter Milan, but he has largely failed to vindicate the \u00a397.5m fee the Blues forked out for him at the start of 2021\/22.<\/p>\n

Despite bagging on his second debut for the club against Arsenal, the 28-year-old has only managed to add another four league goals to that tally, and as a result, he has failed to make Tuchel’s starting XI in any of the club’s previous five Premier League games.<\/p>\n

Werner, by contrast, has hit a bit of form over the last two games, bagging a brace in the 6-0 demolition job of Southampton and also getting on the scoresheet at the Bernabeu in Chelsea’s unfortunate Champions League exit to Real Madrid earlier in the week.<\/p>\n

The German is another forward who has struggled to find the back of the net on a consistent basis since joining Chelsea in a vastly-expensive deal, but Tuchel believes his current work ethic is one that Lukaku should look to emulate if he is to shift the narrative in west London.<\/p>\n

“What Timo has done is exactly what [Lukaku] needs to do,” Tuchel said. “Wait, be patient, work hard and put the team first, be ready to help the team, because as a striker you can help within seconds.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cNow [Werner] has made it difficult to leave him out. I\u2019m impressed, he was very, very good in the last two games. These were two games when he was much better than in any other game and he showed what he is capable of. Everybody thinks we as managers do the line-up, and of course we do.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut in the end the players take care that you don\u2019t leave them out, they do it in training or in games, and of course in games it\u2019s the opportunity for everybody.”<\/p>\n
