Chelsea forward Timo Werner has admitted he feels more \u201ccomfortable\u201d playing for Germany than he does for Thomas Tuchel\u2019s side.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The 26-year-old has struggled to live up to his lofty \u00a347.5m price tag since trading RB Leipzig for Chelsea in June 2020, netting just one Premier League goal this season, which came back at the start of October against Southampton.<\/span><\/p>\n

However, Werner doesn’t seem to have those same misfiring issues at international level, netting as many goals for Germany in 2021 as he did Premier League goals for Chelsea in the entire 2020\/21 season (six), while he has continued to shine for Die Mannschaft<\/em> in 2022.<\/p>\n

    Werner again took centre stage for his country on Saturday night as Hansi Flick’s men beat Israel 2-0 for the first of Germany’s two friendlies this international break, scoring in the 45th minute after club teammate Kai Havertz opened the scoring 10 minutes prior.<\/p>\n

    Germany now face a tantalising match-up against great international rivals Netherlands on Tuesday in the Dutch capital, and Werner will no doubt be eyeing up further final third success. And he has now documented the key differences between his form for Germany and Chelsea.<\/p>\n

    Speaking after Germany’s 2-0 win, Werner said: “I’m a striker and always want to score. Things aren’t going the way I’d like at Chelsea, so it’s all the better that things are going well here under Hansi Flick.<\/p>\n

    “I really enjoy playing football, no matter where I’m playing. There are differences in the style of play between football at Chelsea and here.<\/p>\n

    “Maybe the one at the national team suits me better. Here, I always have scoring chances, I can score goals. I feel very comfortable here.”<\/p>\n

    Werner initially burst onto the scene with boyhood club Stuttgart, but his reputation took off at Leipzig, particularly under Julian Nagelsmann, as the Saxons reached the Champions League semi-finals in 2019\/20, with the marksman netting 34 goals across all competitions.<\/p>\n

    That sort of dazzling form naturally alerted Europe’s leading lights, and Chelsea ultimately won the tug-of-war to secure his services. Unfortunately for them, he has struggled to recapture those scintillating scoring heights, and there are now genuine concerns about his future at Stamford Bridge.<\/p>\n
