Manchester United legend Paul Scholes believes only Paul Pogba from his former club would be good enough to get into the starting XIs of both Liverpool and Manchester City — but only “in his best form”.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The Frenchman recently returned to action following a three-month spell on the sidelines with a thigh injury, starting three of the club’s last four Premier League games — and recently producing a show-stopping performance in the 4-2 win over Leeds.<\/p>\n

In a six-goal thriller at Elland Road, Pogba dazzled the crowd with an exhibition of dribbling brilliance, completing more take-ons (five) than any other player on the pitch — with a 100% take-on success rate — and producing a notable Okocha-esque flick over Adam Forshaw to really set tongues wagging.<\/p>\n

It was the kind of performance Man Utd fans had hoped they would be getting in every game when Pogba returned to the club in 2016, but inconsistencies with his form — and the dugout at Old Trafford — have largely stunted his progress as a genuine week in, week out world-beater.<\/p>\n

There can be no denying, though, that on his day few can hold a candle to the mercurial midfielder, a notion echoed by Scholes, who believes the 28-year-old walks into the starting XIs of both Liverpool and Man City, but only in his peak condition.<\/p>\n

“Pogba in his best form would,” Scholes told\u00a0<\/span>Premier League productions<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>when posed the question.<\/p>\n

“He is indicative of what the club are doing. Every player is inconsistent. People running the club are inconsistent in what they are doing.<\/p>\n

“I have been a big critic of Paul, but if you are an opposing player going to Old Trafford and you are playing against Fred and McTominay \u2018all day long\u2019.<\/p>\n

“Now, you don\u2019t know what you are going to get with Paul. But when he is on his game, he is brilliant.<\/p>\n

“But when he isn\u2019t, then against your Liverpool and Man City\u2019s, you might struggle in them areas. Where do Man United go next year to replace him?”<\/p>\n
