Gary Neville has warned Manchester United\u2019s hierarchy to appoint a permanent manager on the same level as Pep Guardiola, Jurgen Klopp and Thomas Tuchel, or risk getting \u2018beaten up\u2019 in the Premier League next season.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Red Devils currently have interim boss Ralf Rangnick at the helm, who has shown some promise in the last few games, with the club currently camped in the Premier League top four and entering Wednesday’s Champions League tie against Atletico Madrid<\/a> off the back of a 4-2 win over bitter rivals Leeds.<\/p>\n

Under Rangnick, the club have lost just one game in the Premier League — a 1-0 defeat to Wolves — picking up seven wins and four draws, but Neville doesn’t believe the German tactician has done enough to warrant a permanent berth in the Old Trafford dugout beyond the end of the campaign.<\/p>\n

Instead, Neville believes the makers-and-shakers behind the scenes should be prioritising on bringing in a manager who can hold his own against the likes of Guardiola, Klopp and Tuchel, or the club will risk further stagnation and another season in which they fail to challenge for the title.<\/p>\n

He said on the\u00a0<\/span>Gary Neville Podcast<\/a><\/em>: “I don’t think he\u00a0(Rangnick) gets the job at the end of the season come what may now.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“I think maybe there was a feeling if United went like that (points upwards) then that would happen – it isn’t going to happen, Manchester United will have a new manager next season.<\/p>\n

“I think he will (have a say on who next manager will be) because what he’s got is a real good view of the characters, personalities, performance levels and training levels of the current group of players, so he is in a strong position to advise.<\/p>\n
