Last season Ivan Toney set a new record in the Championship for most goals scored in a single season, becoming the second Brentford player in a row to win the division\u2019s equivalent of the Golden Boot after Ollie Watkins in 2019\/20.<\/strong><\/p>\n

With Watkins moving to Aston Villa last summer, further propelling his status as a natural goal-getter which earned him three England caps earlier this year, and Toney helping Brentford win the play-offs, there is scope for a new Golden Boot winner to emerge from the second tier.<\/p>\n\n

Or, at least, an old face returning to the division. Aleksandar Mitrovic is once again blowing away England’s second tier with 27 goals in 25 games so far, seven more than any other player. His closest challenger is Ben Brereton Diaz who has become a completely different player since embracing his Chilean roots, scoring 20 goals to fire Blackburn into the play-off places.<\/p>\n

Dominic Solanke completes the top three with 18 goals, five more than his closest rival, truly separating the best from the rest.<\/p>\n
