Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has confirmed Jerome Boateng will leave the club this summer upon the expiration of his contract.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The 32-year-old will see his present deal in Bavaria come to an end in June, closing the curtain on a trophy-laden decade at the Allianz Arena, and opening the door for the 76-capped Germany international to join another club on a free transfer.<\/span><\/p>\n

The experienced centre-back has featured 22 times for the Bavarian giants in the Bundesliga this season and recently appeared in the Champions League quarter-finals against PSG as an enforced first-half substitute for Niklas Sule.<\/p>\n

Salihamidzic confirmed Boateng will depart this summer and that is was a mutual decision, making clear Hansi Flick was also involved in the process.<\/p>\n

“Jerome’s contract expires in the summer. It will not be extended,” Salihamidzic told\u00a0<\/span>Sky\u00a0<\/em>ahead of Bayern’s crunch European clash with PSG.<\/p>\n

“That was a joint decision of the club management and the coach was also involved. I explained that to Jerome and he was very understanding. He leaves through a big door – hopefully with titles.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Since joining from Manchester City in 2011, Boateng has formed a formidable defensive bulwark in the heart of the club’s backline, collecting silverware aplenty while helping the club monopolise the Bundesliga’s much-coveted Meisterschale<\/em>.<\/p>\n
