Bayern<\/span> Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has rubbished “fairy tale” reports of David Alaba and Leroy Sane swapping clubs.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The record 29-time German champions were heavily linked with the Manchester City<\/span> forward last summer but any prospective move broke down after Sane picked up a serious knee injury.<\/p>\n

    However, it hasn’t stopped him from being associated with a Bundesliga return — Sane having left boyhood club Schalke 04 for City in 2016, subsequently becoming one of former Bayern<\/span> boss Pep Guardiola<\/span>‘s first signings at the club.<\/p>\n

    Sane has since made 134 appearances for City in all competitions, registering 39 goals and 45 assists. Such were his exemplary performances that Guardiola<\/span> favourably compared him to Lionel Messi<\/span>.<\/p>\n

    A bad knock in their Community Shield win over Liverpool<\/span> has denied Sane a single competitive minute this season and there’s a strong chance he could leave the club before his present deal expires in June 2021.<\/p>\n

    Recently, there have been talks of Sane and Bayern<\/span>‘s multifunctional defender-cum-midfielder Alaba going the opposite direction of each other but Rummenigge dismissed that as being nothing but make-believe.<\/p>\n
