Five things to know&#8230;<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Arteta made 149 appearances for Arsenal as a player between 2011 and 2016.<\/li>\n<li>Since retiring, he&#8217;s taken up a role as Guardiola&#8217;s assistant at Man City.<\/li>\n<li>So far, he&#8217;s helped the club win five major trophies in three years.<\/li>\n<li>As such, he&#8217;s emerged as a contender for the Arsenal job after the club sacked Emery.<\/li>\n<li>Guardiola has confirmed he was aware of Arteta&#8217;s meeting with the Gunners and that his assistant has been &#8220;transparent&#8221; with him.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"background-color: transparent; display: block; padding: 0; max-width: 700px;\" title=\"Audioboom player\" src=\"https:\/\/embeds.audioboom.com\/posts\/7450070\/embed\/v4?image_option=full\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><br \/>\nLjungberg has managed just one win during his five games in charge so far and a number of names have been muted as potential long-term appointments at the Emirates.<\/p>\n<p>Arteta seemingly heads up that list and, according to reports, the Spaniard met with\u00a0<span>Arsenal executives Vinai Venkatesham and Huss Fahmy during the early hours of Monday morning.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Guardiola revealed he knew about the meeting as Arteta was &#8220;incredibly honest&#8221; about it and that he&#8217;s not surprised to see teams interest in his colleague.<\/p>\n<p><span>&#8220;I knew about it. He was incredibly honest and transparent with me,&#8221; Guardiola <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/sistoney67\/status\/1206931518872064003\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told<\/a> reporters.\u00a0<\/span>&#8220;Teams want him. He knows exactly what we would like.
