{"id":1110231,"date":"2019-10-10T12:22:17","date_gmt":"2019-10-10T11:22:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.squawka.com\/en\/?p=1110231"},"modified":"2019-10-10T12:30:32","modified_gmt":"2019-10-10T11:30:32","slug":"jose-mourinho-man-utd-chosen-next-club-lyon-president","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.squawka.com\/en\/news\/jose-mourinho-man-utd-chosen-next-club-lyon-president\/","title":{"rendered":"Jose Mourinho: Ex-Man Utd boss has chosen his next club, says Lyon president"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Lyon president\u00a0Jean-Michel Aulas has confirmed Jose Mourinho turned down the opportunity to become the club&#8217;s new manager as he has &#8220;chosen another club&#8221;.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Ligue 1 side parted company with former Arsenal and Manchester City defender Sylvinho after Sunday&#8217;s derby defeat to St-Etienne.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"background-color: transparent; display: block; padding: 0; max-width: 700px;\" title=\"Audioboom player\" src=\"https:\/\/embeds.audioboom.com\/posts\/7383312-alisson-is-the-golden-middle-of-the-goalkeeper-venn-diagram\/embed\/v4?image_option=full\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Speaking in a press conference on Thursday, Aulus revealed the search is well underway for Sylvinho&#8217;s replacement.<\/p>\n<p>But the president claimed Mourinho turned down talks as he has already agreed to manage another club.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We had some fairly flattering exchanges over SMS,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.getfootballnewsfrance.com\/2019\/lyon-president-aulas-provides-managerial-search-update-in-telephone-press-conference\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Aulus said<\/a>. &#8220;It was nice for everyone. He did not accept our proposal to meet because he has already chosen another club.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Aulus went on to admit he is a fan of Nice head coach and ex-Arsenal midfielder Patrick Vieira, while Remi Garde \u2013 who managed Lyon for three years before an disastrous stint at Aston Villa \u2013 is also under consideration.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He (Vieira) is certainly one of the managers that I like the most,&#8221; Aulus added. &#8220;G\u00e9rard Houllier knows him well after they rubbed shoulders in New York. Sadly, he is under contract, he is not free.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>On Garde, Aulus said: &#8220;He has not yet been contacted but it is a possible route. We made a mistake but in general we don\u2019t make a mistake twice.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He added: &#8220;It was indeed Juninho who took the decision to change manager, he even had this view a little earlier on. He is going to continue to take responsibility on the football side in the same way.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He is a boy who breathes football. I am enriching myself by spending time by his side. In the first matches, he detected a certain number of problems.
