{"id":1109853,"date":"2019-10-07T18:00:14","date_gmt":"2019-10-07T17:00:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.squawka.com\/en\/?p=1109853"},"modified":"2019-10-07T17:33:09","modified_gmt":"2019-10-07T16:33:09","slug":"dier-denies-squad-rift-spurs","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.squawka.com\/en\/news\/dier-denies-squad-rift-spurs\/","title":{"rendered":"Eric Dier denies rumours of rift within underperforming Spurs squad"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Eric Dier has rubbished claims of there being a rift within the playing staff.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The 25-year-old England international returned to Spurs&#8217; starting lineup against Brighton &amp; Hove Albion having been an unused substitute for the bulk of their opening Premier League matches.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Spurs&#8217; nightmare start: Five key things to know\u2026<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Tottenham Hotspur ended last season by finishing runners-up in the Champions League.<\/li>\n<li>However, after their opening 11 matches of the 2019\/20 campaign, they&#8217;ve picked up three wins.<\/li>\n<li>Mauricio Pochettino&#8217;s men were dumped out of the League Cup (via penalties) by League Two side Colchester United.<\/li>\n<li>They would subsequently lose 7-2 at home to Bayern Munich in the Champions League.<\/li>\n<li>Reports have since emerged of a rift within the squad which Eric Dier has gone on to rubbish.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" src=\"https:\/\/embeds.audioboom.com\/posts\/7383312-alisson-is-the-golden-middle-of-the-goalkeeper-venn-diagram\/embed\/v4?image_option=full\" style=\"background-color:transparent; display:block; padding: 0; max-width:700px;\" frameborder=\"0\" allowtransparency=\"allowtransparency\" scrolling=\"no\" title=\"Audioboom player\" allow=\"autoplay\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>His presence, though, couldn&#8217;t prevent Mauricio Pochettino&#8217;s men suffering a third league defeat which came just a few days after being humiliated at home in the Champions League by German powerhouse Bayern Munich.<\/p>\n<p>Dier remained on the bench as Niko Kovac&#8217;s side ran out 7-2 winners &#8211; never before have a Spurs team conceded that many in their own stadium. It subsequently led to reporters of there being disharmony among the squad.<\/p>\n<p>Things didn&#8217;t get any better at the Amex as Brighton put three past them without reply. Speaking afterwards, Dier admitted Spurs are going through a challenging period, but refutes any suggestion of turmoil in the dressing room, instead backing his teammates to get Spurs out of this rut.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Would You Rather Declan Rice or Se\u0301bastien Haller?
