Gary Neville says Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs to “clean up the trash” in the dressing room before the club can be successful again.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The 20-time English champions have struggled to regularly compete for silverware in recent years following the retirement of legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013.<\/p>\n

  • Solskjaer succeeded Jose Mourinho as Man Utd boss on an interim basis last December.<\/li>\n
  • He won 14 of his opening 24 matches before getting the job full-time.<\/li>\n
  • However, he’s only won four of his following 15 games, two of those coming in Man Utd’s opening five league games of this season.<\/li>\n
  • No fewer than six first-team players departed in the summer, including Romelu Lukaku.<\/li>\n

    Solskjaer is Man Utd’s fourth permanent head coach since Ferguson’s departure, none of whom have threatened to win the championship. Following a promising start he’s struggled recently, though picked up a much-needed win over Leicester City on Saturday afternoon.<\/p>\n

    An eighth minute Marcus Rashford penalty was enough for Man Utd to register only their second win of this Premier League season.<\/p>\n

    Heading into the campaign, Solskjaer oversaw an overhaul of the playing staff with no fewer than six first-team players departing – most notably Lukaku and Ander Herrera, both of whom former Man Utd captain Neville has criticised.<\/p>\n

    However, despite moving these players on, the footballer turned pundit feels there’s more that needs to be done and Solskjaer should be given a couple of transfer windows to make further progress.<\/p>\n
