Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford believes Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s understanding of his players sets him apart from predecessor Jose Mourinho.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Despite winning the Europa League, League Cup and delivering a second-placed finish during his time at Old Trafford, Mourinho was relieved of his duties in December 2018 with Solskjaer taking temporary charge.<\/p>\n

    Solskjaer oversaw a huge upturn in form from United and was eventually rewarded with the permanent managerial role. Since then, however, things have been much more difficult and the Red Devils are now enduring their worst start to a season since 1992\/93.<\/p>\n

    But Rashford insists the Norwegian still has the backing of the United dressing room, highlighting his experience as a player as one of the key differences from Mourinho.<\/p>\n

    When asked by BBC’s Gary Lineker<\/a> whether Solskjaer’s methods differed to those of Mourinho, Rashford said: “He’s [Solskjaer] very different but I think it’s expected because he’s played. Off the pitch, he understands the players a bit more.”<\/p>\n

    Lineker then pressed Rashford on whether Mourinho’s lack of playing experience ever caused him a problem.<\/p>\n

    “I don’t think it was a problem for him, because he’s obviously a top manager and he has his way of reading people,” he responded.<\/p>\n

    “But for me, I think when a manager has played, they’ve lived the lifestyle that we’ve lived and they might be a bit more understanding.”<\/p>\n
