Manchester City legend\u00a0Vincent Kompany has been accused of ‘thinking he is God’ after overseeing a disastrous start to the season as the new Anderlecht boss.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Belgian centre-back left City earlier this summer to join his boyhood club as a player-manager but has taken just two points from the opening four matches of the Jupiler Pro League season.<\/p>\n

  • He invested heavily in the summer, bringing in a number of his former & current colleagues.<\/li>\n
  • Among those were international teammate Nacer Chadli and\u00a0Samir Nasri.<\/li>\n
  • However, after four matches\u00a0Anderlecht sit just two points from the bottom of the Jupiler Pro League.<\/li>\n
  • He has now been accused of\u00a0‘thinking he is God’ by ex-Anderlecht forward\u00a0Marc Degryse.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Kompany has recruited heavily this summer with the acquisitions of\u00a0Chadli,\u00a0Nasri,\u00a0Michel Vlap and\u00a0Kemar Roofe, but his side currently sits just four places from the foot of the table.<\/p>\n

    As such, former\u00a0Sheffield Wednesday,\u00a0Anderlecht and\u00a0Belgium international forward,\u00a0Marc Degryse, has hit out at\u00a0Kompany for not investing all of his energy on improving the squad.<\/p>\n

    He said:\u00a0“Kompany is only human, besides being a good footballer – but I feel he thinks he is God.<\/p>\n

    “In the coming international break a coach would normally have two weeks to work intensively with his squad.<\/p>\n

    “But Kompany will be off with Belgium to play San Marino and Scotland – before having his testimonial game in Manchester.<\/p>\n

    “Some people like to be busy, but they can become too preoccupied.\u00a0Kompany should think about this. There are limits to everything.<\/p>\n

    “If another centre-back had made the mistakes he made he’d have been criticised – and Kompany would have dropped him for the next game.<\/p>\n

    “Of course Kompany shouldn’t retire from playing – but he has to make sure something like this doesn’t happen again.<\/p>\n

    “If he is honest as a manager he can’t be happy with himself as a player.”<\/p>\n
