Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville has backed Paul Pogba to compete for the highly-coveted\u00a0Premier League Player of the Season award in 2019\/20.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The ex-Red Devil was certainly vocal when discussing the mercurial midfielder’s credentials after he missed a penalty in United’s 1-1 draw with Wolves on Monday night.<\/p>\n

    Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side once again came up short at the\u00a0Molineux, with the Norwegian handed the perfect opportunity to break his hoodoo in the West Midlands, but a Pogba penalty miss ensured his woe against Wolves remains intact.<\/p>\n

    After the match, a noticeably enraged Neville hit out at the Frenchman for stepping up for spot-kick duty ahead of Marcus Rashford, who netted in the opening match of the season against Chelsea, describing the situation as “not right”<\/a>.<\/p>\n

    However, when discussing his predictions for the season on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, Neville ultimately backed the much-maligned star to compete for the end-of-season bauble, selecting him as his ‘One to watch’ in 2019\/20.<\/p>\n

    He stated: “I think Paul Pogba could be player of the year, and I know that could be seen as a bold statement.”<\/p>\n
