Barcelona have revealed the financial details behind Philippe Coutinho\u2019s move to Bayern Munich.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The former Liverpool midfielder has joined the German champions on loan with an option to buy, having fallen below expectations at the Camp Nou.<\/p>\n

    There was much speculation about where Coutinho could end up this season but due to the terms of his contract at Barcelona, there were set to be huge financial costs for any side trying to sign him.<\/p>\n

    He was linked with several Premier League clubs, including Spurs, but in the end has joined Bayern Munich on loan for the 2019\/20 campaign.<\/p>\n

    In a statement on the club website<\/a>, Barcelona revealed the financial implications of the move and, crucially, Bayern will cover all of Coutinho’s wages for this season, which means Barcelona have successfully got the Brazilian off their wage bill.<\/p>\n

    The statement read: \u201cFC Barcelona and Bayern Munich have reached an agreement for the loan of the player Philippe Coutinho to the German club for the 2019\/20 season. Bayern Munich will pay 8.5 million euros and the player\u2019s wages.<\/p>\n

    “The agreement also sees an option to buy for Bayern fixed at 120 million euros.<\/p>\n

    The inclusion of such a large fixed transfer fee means that Coutinho will surely have to perform significantly better than he did for the\u00a0Blaugrana if he is to secure a permanent move to Bavaria.<\/p>\n

    The Brazilian, who is set to wear Arjen Robben’s former No.10 shirt at the Allianz Arena, could make his debut against Schalke this weekend as Bayern look to get their title defence back on track after an opening day draw against Hertha Berlin.<\/p>\n
