Former Manchester United centre-back\u00a0Gary Pallister has backed\u00a0Harry Maguire to one day take the captain’s armband at Old Trafford.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The 26-year-old completed an \u00a380m switch to the North West from Leicester City earlier this month and starred on his debut against Chelsea.<\/p>\n

    Forming an imperious defensive partnership with Victor Lindelof, the duo kept a clean sheet as\u00a0Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side fired four past the Blues in their Premier League opener on Sunday.<\/p>\n

    The England international astutely held the fort against Frank Lampard’s new-look Chelsea and\u00a0Pallister has now earmarked him to skipper the club further down the line.<\/p>\n

    “[Maguire] is not afraid to put his head in where it hurts, he wins his tackles, he\u2019s a big lad, a big unit and he has that presence that you need to be a captain and he leads by example,” he told\u00a0American Gambler<\/a>.<\/p>\n

    “I\u2019m not 100% sure if he\u2019d be a screaming and shouting captain, but you can have all different types of captains.<\/p>\n

    “You can have a Tony Adams or a John Terry who shout and scream, or you can have an [Eric] Cantona who doesn\u2019t shout and scream but just leads by example on the pitch.<\/p>\n

    “I don\u2019t know which category he falls into, but he looks a figure of authority within the side and I could definitely see him becoming United captain in the future.”<\/p>\n
