Joe Gomez has talked down suggestions that Liverpool will be ‘the team to beat’ this season after their Champions League triumph.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The England international has revealed that his side still prepare for games as the “underdogs”, approaching every encounter with the same level of drive and hunger.<\/p>\n

    Jurgen Klopp led the Anfield club to a sixth European crown last term as well as finishing just a point behind Manchester City in the Premier League title race, but Gomez believes his teammates have the capacity to outdo themselves this time around.<\/p>\n

    When asked about Liverpool’s status as continental champions, Gomez responded<\/a>: “Obviously it’s a label that’s given now that we achieved what we did last season.<\/p>\n

    “I think the main thing in our minds is that we still see ourselves as underdogs, we still see ourselves as a hungry team that hasn’t achieved what we want to achieve yet.<\/p>\n

    “There’s still so much more to do and to surpass what we did last season. I think the main thing is that our mindset is in the right place and whatever is said after that is not up to us.”<\/p>\n
