Five things to know&#8230;<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Harry Maguire joined Manchester United for \u00a380m on Monday.<\/li>\n<li>The fee makes him the most expensive defender in history.<\/li>\n<li>Already, high expectations are being placed on the centre-back to solve United&#8217;s problems.<\/li>\n<li>And Ferdinand believes Maguire is as good as anyone in driving the ball out from defence.<\/li>\n<li>Ferdinand was the world&#8217;s most expensive defender on two separate occasions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"background-color: transparent; display: block; padding: 0; max-width: 700px;\" title=\"Audioboom player\" src=\"https:\/\/embeds.audioboom.com\/posts\/7336082-10-predictions-for-the-2019-20-premier-league-season\/embed\/v4\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Ferdinand, who retired in 2015, was also the world&#8217;s most expensive defender at two points in his career, costing Leeds \u00a318m in 2000 &#8211; a then-British transfer record &#8211; and Manchester United \u00a330m two years later.<\/p>\n<p>As a result, Ferdinand understands the pressure that comes with such a label, but the 40-year-old expects Maguire to excel at United.<\/p>\n<p>In a post on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/B00e0bfAbEU\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Instagram<\/a>, Ferdinand wrote: \u201cAfter speaking to numerous people that know him, they all say what a level headed, hard working lad he is who will give 110 per cent for his team, something he echoed himself when he signed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe has made huge strides in the right direction and improved all areas of his game.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s grown into someone who can be a leader of men.
