Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has warned new Manchester United signing Harry Maguire about the pressures of being the world\u2019s most expensive defender.<\/strong><\/p>\n

United completed the \u00a380m deal for Maguire from Leicester on Monday, surpassing Van Dijk\u2019s fee of \u00a375m when he joined Liverpool from Southampton in 2018.<\/p>\n

    The 26-year-old has seen a meteoric rise in his career in a relatively short space of time. The defender was playing in League One as recently as 2014 and has since become a key defender in Gareth Southgate\u2019s England set-up.<\/p>\n

    The \u00a380 million United paid Leicester for his services is a world-record fee for a defender. Liverpool\u2019s Virgil van Dijk held that record previously and the Dutchman admitted Maguire will be under more pressure due to the price tag.<\/p>\n
