{"id":1099208,"date":"2019-07-29T14:33:00","date_gmt":"2019-07-29T13:33:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.squawka.com\/en\/?p=1099208"},"modified":"2019-07-29T14:33:00","modified_gmt":"2019-07-29T13:33:00","slug":"chinese-super-league-gareth-bale-real-madrid","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.squawka.com\/en\/news\/chinese-super-league-gareth-bale-real-madrid\/","title":{"rendered":"Chinese Super League club signs Gareth Bale alternative after &#8216;transfer U-turn&#8217; from Real Madrid"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Jiangsu Suning have ended their pursuit of\u00a0Gareth Bale after completing the signing of\u00a0Croatian forward Ivan Santini.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Welshman looked set for a move to China this summer, but his proposed switch was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.squawka.com\/en\/news\/gareth-bale-chinese-super-league-real-madrid\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">blocked by Real Madrid<\/a> just days before the\u00a0Chinese transfer window slams shut.<\/p>\n<h2>Bale transfer saga: Five things to know&#8230;<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Bale looked destined to leave Real this window, with the Chinese Super League\u00a0his likely destination.<\/li>\n<li>Earlier this month\u00a0Zinedine Zidane <a href=\"https:\/\/www.squawka.com\/en\/news\/zidane-bale-imminent-exit-real-madrid\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">confirmed<\/a> Bale\u2019s exit was imminent.<\/li>\n<li>As such, the Wales international was supposedly in talks with Jiangsu Suning to secure a deal worth \u00a31m a week.<\/li>\n<li>However, talks broke down over the weekend, with Real not satisfied the financial return was beneficial enough.<\/li>\n<li>Jiangsu Suning have now opted to sign Croatian forward Ivan Santini.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"background-color: transparent; display: block; padding: 0; max-width: 700px;\" title=\"Audioboom player\" src=\"https:\/\/embeds.audioboom.com\/posts\/7324413-he-ll-be-arsenal-s-new-double-pivot-santi-cazorla\/embed\/v4\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Bale&#8217;s relationship with current Los Blancos manager\u00a0Zinedine Zidane has been less than cordial since the Frenchman&#8217;s reappointment in March, with\u00a0the 47-year-old recently saying that he \u2018hopes Bale leaves soon\u2019, and followed up by suggesting the club were \u201cworking on his transfer to a new team\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>That provoked agitation from the Bale camp, with the Wales international&#8217;s representative,\u00a0Jonathan Barnett, responding by calling the former\u00a0Ballon d&#8217;Or\u00a0winner a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.squawka.com\/en\/news\/zidane-disgrace-bale-real-madrid-exit\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201cdisgrace\u201d<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>As such, Bale had been in discussions over a proposed move to the Chinese Super League, but Los Blancos have since scuppered that deal, and Jiangsu Suning have now\u00a0moved briskly\u00a0to sign a forward before the window closes on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Santini has been signed from\u00a0Anderlecht which has quickly brought an end to this ongoing transfer saga, with the club having now filled their overseas player quota, leaving Bale in very uncertain territory ahead of 2019\/20.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"How will Zinedine Zidane setup Real Madrid? He\u00a0told\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/football\/49140751\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BBC Sport<\/a>\u00a0how his former colleague would have made a seamless transition to the league<\/p>\n<p>He said: &#8220;Gareth will do very well here and it&#8217;s a league where he&#8217;ll fit in.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He is an unbelievable player. In China, they want people who create something from nothing.
