Liverpool wonderkid\u00a0Rhian Brewster has been likened to club legends\u00a0Ian Rush and Robbie Fowler by former Red Jason McAteer.\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The 19-year-old has impressed during Liverpool’s pre-season preparations, netting three goals in two matches against Tranmere Rovers and Bradford City.<\/p>\n

    Brewster’s rich potential appears to be blossoming this summer, which will come as welcome news to\u00a0Kopites after\u00a0the tyro endured a torrid 12 months on the sidelines.<\/p>\n

    Such has been his brilliant form since returning to action that McAteer believes he could now follow in the fabled footsteps of Liverpool’s greatest ever strikers.<\/p>\n

    McAteer told Sky Sports News<\/a>: “His progression is coming along nicely, it’s a great learning curve for him. He’s had that injury but he now looks like he’s fully fit and come back from it.<\/p>\n

    “You can see bits of Rushy (Ian Rush) in him, the way he runs, the way he closes people down. Also, bits of Robbie Fowler in his finishing.<\/p>\n

    “If he turns out half as good as those two, I’m sure we’ve got a real player on our hands!”<\/p>\n

    Jurgen Klopp has already talked of an “important role” for Brewster this forthcoming season after starting him in both pre-season friendlies, as well as naming him on the bench for Liverpool’s Champions League final victory.<\/p>\n

    McAteer went on to add that this sort exposure to first-team surroundings will only help to accelerate Brewster’s\u00a0growth and help him settle in.<\/p>\n

    He continued:\u00a0“Mixing with the first-team lads will do him no harm and the experience he’ll gain from being here on tour will be great for him.<\/p>\n

    “You don’t quite know how they’re going to settle when they’re in and amongst that big crowd, but at the minute he looks the part.<\/p>\n

    “He’s moving in the right direction – he’s athletic, he’s quick, he likes to hang on the shoulder.”<\/p>\n
