Fenerbahce have released a statement denying any ‘short-term’ interest in Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil. <\/strong><\/p>\n

The former Germany international has been a key member of the Arsenal squad since joining from Real Madrid for \u00a342.5m in 2013, winning three FA Cups.<\/p>\n

    But last season saw Ozil manage just five goals and two assists in the Premier League, with the 30-year-old’s struggles leading to links away from the Emirates.<\/p>\n

    Recent reports have suggested Fenerbahce would be interested in signing Ozil but the Turkish giants have now issued a statement on their official website denying these claims.<\/p>\n

    Their statement said<\/a>: “In recent weeks, and especially in the last few days, the necessity of providing information about the claims of Mesut \u00d6zil, which is on the agenda, to clarify the situation has arisen.<\/p>\n

    “Mesut \u00d6zil, with his career and stance, successfully represents our country abroad and is an important value known with the identity of Fenerbahce.<\/p>\n

    “However, Fenerbahce does not have an interest in signing Mesut Ozil. Under the current economic conditions, such a step is not possible for both parties.<\/p>\n
