Benfica have denied reports suggesting they are in negotiations to sell Joao Felix, insisting any side wishing to acquire the youngster must meet his \u20ac<\/span><\/span>120m release clause. <\/strong><\/p>\n

A number of outlets have claimed the Portuguese champions have agreed on a \u00a3100m deal with Atletico Madrid for the sale of Felix, 19, while the likes of Manchester United and Manchester City have been heavily linked with his signature.<\/p>\n

    But Benfica have now released a statement on their official website denying these reports, maintaining any deal will only go through when a prospective buyer meets the \u20ac<\/span><\/span>120m release clause.<\/p>\n

    The statement read: “In view of reports published in recent hours, Sport Lisboa e Benfica – Futebol, SAD clarifies that it is false that any negotiation process is currently underway regarding a possible transfer of Jo\u00e3o F\u00e9lix.<\/p>\n

    “The conditions for negotiation are public and known, taking into account the termination clause to the amount of \u20ac<\/span><\/span>120m.\u00a0More serious, and that deserves our most vehement repudiation and denial, is the false news that refers to negotiations that involve commissions of 30% which was, unfortunately, echoed in Portugal by the newspaper “A Bola”, with intentions and goals that are unclear to us.<\/p>\n

    “We repeat: this information is totally false, absurd and has clear intentions against the reputation and dignity of Sport Lisboa e Benfica.”<\/p>\n

    A Bola <\/a>claim the reported 30% commission \u2013 which would be paid to agent Jorge Mendes \u2013 was “advanced” by the Spanish TV show, Chiringuito de Jugones.<\/p>\n
