England manager Gareth Southgate has cut four players from his final squad that will partake in the Nations League this summer.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Three Lions face the Netherlands in the Nations League semi-finals in Portugal at the\u00a0Est\u00e1dio D. Afonso Henriques on June 6th.<\/p>\n

  1. England are one of four teams who are competing in the Nations League finals this summer.<\/li>\n
  2. The other three are the Netherlands, Portugal and Switzerland.<\/li>\n
  3. The winner of the tournament receives \u00a39.35 million in prize money along with the honour of the first Nations League trophy.<\/li>\n
  4. Several England internationals are participating in the Champions League final between Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur five days prior.<\/li>\n
  5. England have scored 18 goals in their last five matches in all competitions.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Bank Holiday Monday saw England boss Southgate cut down his original squad of 27 players to just 23, with four players told that their services will not be needed in the Nations League this summer.<\/p>\n

    Tottenham Hotspur pairing Kieran Trippier and Harry Winks have both been told that they will not be participating this summer. Both will be heavily involved in the club’s Champions League final on Saturday. However, four other Spurs players – and three Liverpool – have remained in the squad.<\/p>\n

    Despite Tottenham’s success this season, Trippier has struggled for consistent form throughout the campaign while Winks has missed 12 games this season through a groin injury.<\/p>\n

    Southgate admitted that dropping the Spurs full-back was ‘a hard decision’ but felt he had not had quite as good a season as both Trent Alexander-Arnold and Kyle Walker, who also play in his position.<\/p>\n

    “Trippier has had such a big impact, he had such a brilliant World Cup,” said<\/a> Southgate.<\/p>\n

    “He has been a really valuable member of our squad and has a great attitude with us, real passion in playing for England, but Trent and Kyle have finished the season so strongly.<\/p>\n

    “It is a position where we have got real competition for places.”<\/p>\n
