Chelsea’s impending two-window transfer ban could help foster the development of “England’s next superstar”, according to former Blue Shaun Wright-Phillips. \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The west London club have been hit with a transfer\u00a0embargo after breaching FIFA’s article 19 for\u00a0the signing of young foreign players.<\/p>\n

  2. The most high-profile case was a then-15-year-old\u00a0Bertrand Traore, who appeared for the Blues’ youth teams despite falling outside\u00a0the European Economic Area.<\/li>\n
  3. FIFA states that minors outside the EEA cannot move between clubs.<\/li>\n
  4. Chelsea have since appealed the ban but have seen their pleas rejected by FIFA.<\/li>\n
  5. The club are now exploring the possibility of taking the case to the\u00a0Court of Arbitration for Sport.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Chelsea failed with an appeal to have the transfer ban overturned by FIFA, but are now considering an application to the\u00a0Court of Arbitration for Sport to have the punishment uplifted.<\/p>\n

    Maurizio Sarri’s side have already recruited Borussia Dortmund winger Christian Pulisic, and the contracts of both Gonzalo Higuain and Mateo Kovacic could see them make their temporary stints at Stamford Bridge permanent.<\/p>\n

    However, former Chelsea winger Wright-Phillips, who won the Premier League title in 2006, believes the transfer ban could have a positive effect on the club, insisting Sarri should look at the Blues’ current crop of starlets out on loan in an attempt to unearth a gem.<\/p>\n

    When asked about the repercussions of the ban by\u00a0AmericanGambler.com<\/a>, he said: “I don\u2019t think it will hinder them because they have enough players in their squad now, and they have enough players on loan, which are clearly of a Premier League standard so they can call them back.<\/p>\n

    “So I don\u2019t think the ban will hinder them that much \u2013 we\u2019re forgetting that they have something like 40 players out on loan.<\/p>\n

    “Of course not all of them are worthy of a place in the Chelsea side, but there\u2019s a lot of people with the potential and this could be the start of somebody\u2019s career by bringing them back and giving them a run in the team, and maybe even the next England superstar, or French or Belgian superstar on our hands.”<\/p>\n
