Sporting Club have finally agreed a fee with Atletico Madrid for former winger Gelson Martins, nearly a year after the 24-year-old left the club on a ‘free’.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A \u20ac22.5m\u00a0deal has been struck between both parties after 10 months of legal disputes regarding the fee, but Atleti will\u00a0reportedly sell the Portugal international to AS Monaco<\/a> – where he has spent half the season on loan – immediately, for a transfer ranging between \u20ac30-35m.<\/p>\n

  1. Following a violent clash with Sporting supporters at the club’s training ground last summer, several players terminated their contracts, including Martins.<\/li>\n
  2. As a result, the winger transferred to Atletico on a ‘free transfer’ in July 2018 and has since made just 12 appearances.<\/li>\n
  3. Since his move, the two clubs have argued over the legalities of the 2018 transfer but the\u00a0\u20ac22.5m deal will bring an end to the matter.<\/li>\n
  4. Martins – who made 140 appearances for Sporting Club – will then reportedly make his loan move to AS Monaco permanent.<\/li>\n
  5. The 24-year-old has enjoyed more success in Ligue 1 this season, making 15 appearances and scoring four goals.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Sporting can now concentrate on the continued development of their own fortunes on the football pitch rather than concentrating on any outstanding legal issues with the Spanish outfit.<\/p>\n
