{"id":1088616,"date":"2019-05-12T15:19:54","date_gmt":"2019-05-12T14:19:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.squawka.com\/en\/?p=1088616"},"modified":"2021-09-14T16:54:33","modified_gmt":"2021-09-14T15:54:33","slug":"guardiola-bernardo-silva-best-premier-league-player","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.squawka.com\/en\/news\/guardiola-bernardo-silva-best-premier-league-player\/","title":{"rendered":"Pep Guardiola names &#8220;the best player&#8221; in the Premier League this season"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Pep Guardiola believes Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva has been the best player in the Premier League this season.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Portugal international missed out on the PFA Player of the Year award to Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk while Raheem Sterling secured the PFA Young Player of the Year accolade.<\/p>\n<p>However, Guardiola is adamant Silva should have received significantly more recognition ahead of his competitors due to his influential performances for City.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He was the best [this season], not just in our team,&#8221; Guardiola told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mancity.com\/citytv\/interviews\/2019\/may\/brighton-v-city-pep-preview-10-may\">City&#8217;s official website<\/a> when asked about the man nicknamed &#8216;Bubblegum&#8217;, courtesy of his ability to retain possession.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Bernardo can play incredibly well everywhere, give me a team and he can play well there.
